The first cruise in our area after the onset of the coronavirus pandemic is expected to start on Sunday, September 13th from the port of Heraklion, amid hopes for a successful and safe trip for passengers but also concerns about whether this is possible with the corovirus "galloping". The first cruise ship to approach the Cretan port is The Mein Schiff 6, of Tui Cruises, which is expected to dock today at the port of Heraklion, according to an announcement by the Heraklion Port Agency.
The passengers of the ship will come to Heraklion on charter flights from Germany and the seven-day cruise, which will start every Sunday from Heraklion, also includes Piraeus and Corfu as the next ports.
Procedures agreed under emergency response plans in the event of a case of Covid-19 communicable disease, both port and ship, will strictly follow the health requirements as defined by European and national health protocols, the Communication added.
Based on the bookings so far, approximately 600 passengers are expected to travel on a ship with a capacity of 2,534 passengers, while under protocols the maximum limit will be 1,520 people.
