New restrictive measures in Britain to tackle the spread of the virus, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Tuesday, speaking in the House of Commons.
As he said, from next Thursday, September 24th:
- Pubs, bars and restaurants will close at 10 p.m., while the public's return to sporting events, set for October 1st, is postponed
- Mandatory use of masks in shops and taxis
- Reduces the number of attendees at weddings and christenings from 30 to 15 people
- Fine of £200 to those who do not wear a mask
- Work from home, where teleworking does not adversely affect the operation of businesses
- Travel only if it is for health and professional reasons and cannot be postponed
Johnson stressed that "we will see hundreds of dead every day if we do not move forward with these measures."
