Total Gym 1500

ByRuben T Martinez

The is part of a great line within the Total Gym series. This unit is a base model for the more advanced products associated with Total Gym that you see on TV. Upon doing a quick overview on this model you will find that you can use your body weight as resistance for a number of great workouts. With the quick adjustment feature, that resistance can jump from 6% all the way up to 50%! This really is a great all around home gym to have around your house.

Like you've probably read, the Total Gym line has its beginnings in rehabilitation centers. Used to treat patients with severe injuries, the model was perfect for slow, steady, smooth movements that would not provoke more injuries. With this kind of ease and popularity gaining through the years it's no wonder how it ended up in the public living room. This line of equipment gained so much momentum that it was endorsed by celebrities like Chuck Norris.

This home gym is really a simple design. It consists of a gliding bench attached to two pulley systems that raise and lower your body. As the bench incline increases, so does your resistance that you have to work with. When the bench is on the lowest setting, the can be stored under beds or couches. As we began to do some more research, we found many people have also tried this workout machine and just like all workout machines, this one came with some pros and cons.

Pros-

The best thing we heard about was the ease of the workouts. Some mentioned in the DVD were as short as eight minutes and ranged up to 20 minutes long. The cardio you get from doing one of these quick yet affective workouts was also a plus. When I use the I begin to get a good sweat going without putting in a ton of effort. The movements are also very easy on the body. There were not very many jerky movements that would be prone to injuries. Basic moves like curls, flyes, pullovers, and rows were as simple as adjusting your grip on the pulleys and adjusting the way you positioned yourself on the bench.

Cons-

Although the is a good machine, it is really only the base model of the whole line. For more resistance or other features you would need to purchase add-ons or sell your model for a newer one. The price of the home gym was also a problem. For $200.00 most people would like to have gotten something more than a base model.
