PAPHOS - MAJOR ROADWORKS AND STREET CLOSURES


The execution of major road works in the centre of Paphos gets under way in the area of the Town Hall square and the commercial centre of the town.  Based on the programme announced by the Municipality, the following traffic flow measures are being taken around the roads in the traditional market place.

We would like to remind you that the Paphos Municipality plans are as follows:

Connection and elevation of 28thOctober Square, Costi Palama Square and Dionysiou Solomou Square

25.1.2016 - 7.6.2016

a)    The area of Grivas Dighenis Avenue from the junction with 1st April Street to the traffic lights in Kennedy Square will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians.

b)   Gr. Afxentiou St., from the Police Station entrance to the junction with Gr. Dighenis Avenue will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians.  It will operate as a no through road for the schools, the Police Station and residents.

c)   I. Iakovides St. will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians, with access only for shops and residents.

d)   Chr. Galatopoulou St. will be closed to vehicles and residents.

e)    Grammou St. will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians.  There will be access for shops and residents.  Access to the Town Hall will be via the Public Gardens.



7.6.2016 – 13.8.2016

Part of I. Agrotis St. will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians.



13.8.2016 – 7.11.2016

25th March Street traffic will be one way only towards I. Agrotis St.

28.1.2016 – 31.5.2016

Thermopylae St. and Costas Karnavallos St. will be closed to vehicles and the traffic flow will be in both directions towards Aphrodite St. and Fellahoglou St.  There will be safe access for pedestrians going to the shops and access for residents.



26.1.2016 – 6.7.2016

Road works will take place gradually on Evagoras Pallikarides Avenue and will occupy half the width of the road in order to permit movement in both directions.



29.1.2016 – 22.8.2016

Makarios III Avenue, Ayios Kendeas St., Solonos St., Costas Georgiou St., and Nicocles St. will be closed to vehicles and traffic will be in both directions towards Aphrodite St. and Fellahoglou St.  There will be safe pedestrian access to the shops and access for residents.



28.1.2016 – 21.10.2016

9th March Square and Evagorou St., Constantinou Kanari St., Votsi St., Dem. Papamiltiadous St., Paphos Chrysanthou St.,  Leonidou St., Hippocratous St., Vassilissis Olga St.  (Queen Olga St.), Pausanias St. will all be closed to vehicles and traffic will flow in both directions towards Aphrodite St. and Fellahoglou St.







23.5.2016 -21.12.2016

Adonidos St., Alfredou St. and Markou Drakou Square will be closed to vehicles.  There will be safe access for shops and residents.



1.6.2016-21.10.2016

Vladimirou Irakleous St. will be closed to vehicles.  There will be safe access for pedestrians to shops and access for residents.



Paphos Municipality and the Traffic Department of Paphos Police would also like to inform the public that owing to the execution of the construction work that is part of the CONNECTION AND ELEVATION OF 28TH OCTOBER SQUARE, D. SOLOMOU SQUARE AND COSTI PALAMA SQUARE the following traffic circulation patterns will apply from 26.1.2016



  1.  The area of Grivas Dighenis Avenue from the junction with 1st April Street as far as the Kennedy Square traffic lights will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians.

  2.  Grivas Afxentiou St. will be closed from the Police Headquarters (Main Police Station) Paphos entrance up to the junction with Grivas Dighenis Avenue for vehicles and pedestrians and will operate as a cul-de-sac (no through road) in order to serve schools, the Police Station, residents and people using the area.

  3. Iakovos Iakovidis St. will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians.  There will only be access to shop owners and residents of the area.

  4. Chr. Galatopoulou St. will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians.

  5. Grammou St. will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians.  There will be limited access only permitted to shop owners and residents of the area.  Entry to the Town Hall will be via the Public Gardens.

    Paphos Municipality and the Traffic Department of Paphos Police request the understanding and cooperation of members of the public for the safety of citizens and the smooth execution of road works.
